about

Elements of blues, punk and folk line the foundation of this rock and roll record. Written by an unemployed workaholic, Take Out The Trash covers the identity struggle between projecting a good image and actually being a kind person. The serious-but-hopeful lyrics are contrasted by a lighthearted beat, gang vocals and sometimes a kazoo, banjo or harmonica. Nate Allen (one half of the zany duo Destroy Nate Allen) is a white man in his 30's taking an stern look in the mirror, acknowledging privilege and pain, and inviting you to Take Out The Trash.

Track Name: Open To Everything
hating myself for what I have done kicking myself to the curb
honestly failing to realize I am no man of my word

after further descriptions of evil schemes I’m cursing destructive, and evil means
I’m so countercultural i see the scars drinking the water out of mason jars
I bought this guitar at a front yard store playing in these strings till they work no more

Oh I wanna be open to everything I wanna be open to everything but I don’t wanna be broken

after nearly escaping myself again I start to talk to myself like my own best friend
i call up my counsels and I realize I’m far more that I see with my four-eyes
after properly picking myself back up I try to stitch up the wounds and act like I am tough
another individual I tried to lament but he talked too much and now I am spent

After thoroughly looking through all I’ve done I realize I’ve missed out and I’ve been dumb
except your steadfast and wholesome love I would have reached my and given myself a shove
Track Name: Hunger Pains
The Hunger Pains

The hunger pains are here to tell me that this whole thing was over before it started
and the sweet refrain of the ball and chain are telling me to prepare for the coming rain

so put a good shoe on your left, a good shoe on your right
you stand up and you sit down and you fight fight fight
and always better wear your sunday best
cause you’ll get the good job if you’re not well dressed

The hunger pains are here to tell me that this whole thing was over before it started
and the sweet refrain of the ball and chain are telling me to prepare for the coming rain

put a good shoe on your left, a good shoe on your right
you stand up and you sit down and you fight fight fight
and you all better have your business card
Cause if you’re not ready you won’t be a star

and this can’t last, this can’t last forever
and this can’t happen, happen to everyone one
Track Name: Westside Blues
Westside Blues

The Westside blues aren't far from the southern hills
The northwest winds are coming and giving me chills

When the sun it shines
When the sun it shines
When the sun it shines for all the wrong reasons
for all the wrong reasons

Can there be equality when everybody I know is just like me?
Can I learn to see things in new light?
If there still condemnation and segregation in the social station
Can we put our differences aside?

When the sun it shines
When the sun it shines
When the sun it shines for all the wrong reasons
for all the wrong reasons

All my friends wanna move to the worst city west of the Mississippi
I don't know? I don't know?
All my friends wanna move to the worst city west of the Mississippi Now I know! Now I know!

Context clues and social views gun fighting on the evening news
Preaching at me till I finally see the light
Context clues and social views gun fighting on the evening news
Preaching at me till I finally see the light

When the sun it shines
When the sun it shines
When the sun it shines for all the wrong reasons
for all the wrong reasons
Track Name: Social Equality
Social Equality

Social equality such a dichotomy I can not find the right words
Blinded by innocence not fearing anyone walking with great confidence
Chosen by providence raised with such ignorance vindication I do seek
Aware of my wickedness reminded all the time I have so far left to go
Seeking enlightenment tactfully I refrain we are all free to exchange
The ideas that correspond with all that we've done wrong we are all free to exchange
Track Name: Photograph
Photograph

we said we'd take a walk together then we got caught up
typing out our words to friends we won't see soon enough
the clock ticks past the hour now it's time to go to bed
but you know that i'd love to stay and walk these streets instead

and lover won't you please not let me go
i've been meaning to show you
i've been meaning to show you
but the time has passed us by

The memories of this time together won't last for too long
see I can't remember the titles to my favorite songs
the track listings and mixtapes have long since passed away
as have the smiles and faces of my favorite memories made

and lover won't you please not let me go
i've been meaning to show you
i've been meaning to show you
but the time has passed us by
Track Name: We Don't Even Know
We Don’t Even Know

When will the discussions finally turn to abuse and bullying
and hurting your neighbor and not making friends
and ignoring all pain that we see

We don't even know
We don't even know
We don't even know what we've done
If climbing the latter defines success
I know I have stepped on someone

When you're on the town and out with your friends
and you think we should shake it off
Well I hope we all find a better way where this pain inside us can be lost

We don't even know
We don't even know
We don't even know what we've done
If climbing the latter defines success
I know I have stepped on someone

so now we do pause
and look at ourselves.
and realize just what we have done
without humble response
without apology
it’s how we have stepped on someone
Track Name: More Money Than We Have
More Money Than We Have

More money than we have
more money than we have
Can’t wait for a day when everything is not
More money than we have

tried to pay the rent turned out all the money was spent
tried to pay the bills guess I went to too many goodwills

Wanted to buying a satellite tv
Wanted to buying a vcr
Wanted to buy an icecream sandwich but no money doesn’t go far

Thought I would be rich and famous like all the famous tv stars
instead i’m home doing the dishes and try to get sick all the mold out of my car
Track Name: Death Is Overrated
Death Is Overrated

Life is complicated
Death is overrated
I’m just feeling jaded
I think I just need some rest

Walked downtown to the grocery store
offered me a coffee if I needed some more
I said no thanks I’ve already had enough
but thanks for your hospitality, thanks for your hospitality

Life is complicated
Death is overrated
I’m just feeling jaded
I think I just need some rest

Walked a few blocks then I turned around
kids were making all those lemonade sounds
pulled out a quarter and I bought a cup
said thanks for your hospitality, thanks for your hospitality

put on a movie and I fell asleep
woke up to the sound of the door bell beat
grateful to my ride when I was not late
I said thanks for your hospitality, thanks for your hospitality
Track Name: When I Call You Up
When I Call You Up

Well I don't know much about LIFE or anything
but I know that you've been through this before
and I when I call you up you'll know just what to say
to help me take one step more

So I act now, act now and my head hangs low
I'm calling but you won't come to the door
and I ask why, ask why as the time stands still
I hope I can one more step-up-the-hill
Track Name: Goodbye Letter
Goodbye Letter

I had a friend who was turning 19 wrote a goodbye letter to his rock n' roll scene
I said "I don't understand" and "I not agree" but as time's moving on that's starting to look like me

I knew a girl not yet 21 she said "watch out world I'm gonna be someone"
But she mourned her life instead of chasing her dreams
and now she's calling me on holiday talking about pyramid schemes

I had friends - some are gone
Some have died - some just moved on
They dance with the fire as they move along
And to all I know, may hope stay strong

There was the day on my lunch break my soul was shaking like an earthquake
I was clinging to the rope of a greater fate as I was hiding in the basement hiding my past mistakes

I had friends - some are gone
Some have died - some just moved on
They dance with the fire as they move along
And to all I know, may hope stay strong

we’ve all heard of the wrongly accused as social pressures try to find a muse
they don’t talk fairly, the evening news and it just gets louder with the close held views

I had friends - some are gone
Some have died - some just moved on
They dance with the fire as they move along
And to all I know, may hope stay strong

I knew a guy who was turning 19 wrote a goodbye letter to his rock n' roll scene
I said "I don't understand" and "I not agree" but now life's moving on and that's starting to look like me
